Schoolhouse Rock Live! Auditions |
|
Schoolhouse Rock Live! will open CATS' 32nd year, with performances scheduled Sept. 24-Oct. 3. It will be co-directed by several outstanding directors. Familiar faces you'll see throughout the rehearsal process include Michael Magnus, Stacy Schronk, Dennis Yslas, Frank Mosley, and Scott Arnold, just to name a few!
Vocal auditions will be held on Thursday, August 26, by appointment, starting at 7:00pm. Call 817-861-2287 to schedule your audition time, or sign up on the board next to the office. People without an appointment may be seen as the schedule allows, so sign up ASAP to ensure your audition time! Be prepared to sing 32 bars of a musical number. Bring a CD, sheet music, and a head shot for the director.
Readings and improv are scheduled for Friday, August 27, at 7:00pm. Callbacks will be Saturday, August 28, from 2:00-5:00pm.
Only ages 8 and up may audition, unless special approval is given by the directing staff. Auditions are open to the community. |
AUDITION NOTES |
- Auditions are scheduled for 1-2 nights at 7pm, with possible callbacks on Saturday at 2pm.
- Audition processes, details, qualifications, and final selections are determined by the individual Director.
- Selection of candidates and roles is solely at the discretion of the Director.
- Some casts require actors of a certain age, so auditions may exclude age groups not appropriate to a show; however, CATS encourages CATS Students to audition for most everything as a learning tool.
- If a production does not specificially exclude ages, then please audition even if you don't think there's an appropriate part. Directors often change their vision of the show based on the cast that auditions for them.
- Callbacks are often required, usually to make choices among several candidates; however, some Directors may call everyone back. This is at the Director's discretion.
- Auditions may involve cold readings from the script and could include a 1-2 minute monolog. Musicals require song auditions, generally using a 16-bar song in the style of the musical. Dance auditions may be done at the same.
- Audition dates and times are posted on this site and may be posted on John Garcia Column Online, TheaterJones.com, and DFW Theater. See the links in the left column.
- Results of auditions will usually be posted here, both callbacks and cast lists. This information will also be posted on the lobby bulletin board in the CATS school lobby. No calls will be made from CATS about auditions, though you can call CATS to ask. Check here or the bulletin board before you call CATS.
